What is a Data Clean Room?

A Data Clean Room is an environment that enables secure data collaborations between different parties. In this space, two or more parties (for example, a publisher and a brand) can bring together their first-party data to be jointly analyzed to uncover relevant insights for increased advertising impact, while exerting strict controls over what happens on their data and ensuring consumer privacy.

This term may be new on the block, but Data Clean Rooms are here to stay. By 2023 Gartner forecasts that around 80% of advertisers with billion-dollar marketing budgets will be working with virtual clean rooms.
