Strengthening data collaboration between publishers and advertisers

Through this partnership, iq digital — whose portfolio includes FAZ.NET, Handelsblatt Online, DER SPIEGEL, SZ.de, DIE ZEIT, WirtschaftsWoche Online and Tagesspiegel — joins the Decentriq network as one of Germany’s leading first media houses embracing secure data collaboration.

Traditionally, iq digital has leveraged publisher-side first-party data to deliver premium audience targeting and insights. This new partnership introduces a step change: enabling collaborations that bring together both publisher and advertiser first-party data in a privacy-safe environment. The result is a new level of precision, interoperability, and accountability in digital advertising without compromising data protection or user trust.

“We believe in a healthy and open internet where advertisers can connect with audiences in premium, high-quality environments — not just within walled gardens,” says Svenja Onasch, Head of Data Management, iq digital media marketing. “Partnering with Decentriq allows us to demonstrate how first-party data collaboration can both protect user privacy and strengthen quality journalism.”

Driving innovation for premium and regulated industries

By leveraging Decentriq’s clean room capabilities alongside diverse identity solutions like UTIQ, iq digital will empower advertisers to safely connect their first-party data with premium media inventory — opening new opportunities for compliant targeting, campaign optimization, and performance measurement. The privacy-first approach taken by Decentriq also sets the stage for innovation with advertisers across highly regulated sectors such as finance.

“iq digital’s forward-looking approach to data collaboration positions them as a true innovator in the German media landscape,” said Sylwia Iwanejko-Sajewska, Country Manager Germany at Decentriq. “Together, we’re redefining what’s possible in digital advertising by proving that privacy, quality, and performance can go hand in hand.”

Looking ahead

With this partnership now in place, iq digital is preparing to launch its first collaborative campaigns powered by advertiser and publisher first-party data. These initiatives will demonstrate how secure, transparent data collaboration can drive meaningful results for advertisers while supporting the sustainability of independent journalism in Germany.
