Audience quality

Audience quality measures whether a pharma brand's media exposure actually reached people within the target patient population, verified against real-world healthcare data rather than assumed from standard ad-platform targeting categories.

Campaign exposure data is matched against a healthcare data partner's demographic or diagnosis data inside a Decentriq data clean room, and the result shows what share of the audience reached was actually in-target, without exposing the underlying patient-level records to either side.

How it works

A healthcare data partner, such as a claims or patient registry provider, defines the target patient population inside the clean room, for example, everyone with a specific diagnosis code or treatment history.

The publisher's exposure data is matched against that population using the same hardware-enforced confidential computing environment used for script lift, so the data partner's population definition and the publisher's exposure logs stay siloed from each other throughout. The output is an aggregate audience quality score, the share of exposure that reached the defined population, available within days rather than the weeks or months required for claims data to mature.

This is distinct from Doctor Visitation, a related proxy metric that tracks specialist visit rates driven by media rather than patient demographic reach. Read our guide to data clean rooms for pharma marketing measurement.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't a pharma brand just use the ad platform's own targeting reports to check quality?

A platform's own targeting report confirms who its algorithm aimed at, not who was actually verified as being in the target patient population by real-world health data. A clean room checks exposure against an independent, verified population definition instead.

What does a pharma brand need to measure audience quality?

A data partner that can define the target patient population, such as by diagnosis code or treatment history, and campaign exposure data from the brand's media partner to match against it. Alternatively a brand can tap into Decentriq network partners such as PurpleLab.

Can audience quality be measured without identifying individual patients?

Yes. The clean room returns only an aggregate score, the share of exposure that matched the target population, not a list of which individuals were reached or matched.

How often can an audience quality check be run during a campaign?

As often as the brand wants to check in, since it doesn't depend on claims data maturing. Many brands run it on a rolling basis throughout a flight to catch targeting drift early, rather than waiting until the campaign ends.
