Media measurement

Media measurement use cases let advertisers and publishers evaluate campaign performance and audience reach across channels without exposing raw exposure or outcome data to the other party.

In a Decentriq data clean room, the computation runs inside a confidential computing environment, so results can be trusted without either side handing over user-level records. This differs from conventional measurement, where one party typically has to accept a black-box output and hand over data it cannot fully control.

The use cases on this page cover attribution, incrementality testing, pharma-specific script lift and audience quality, cross-media reach and frequency, and incremental reach. Each runs on the same underlying principle: measurement happens through matching, but the data is never shared between parties in raw form. See our guide to privacy-safe media measurement.

Attribution

Connect campaign exposure to customer outcomes without exposing either party's raw data

Conversion lift / incrementality testing

Measure the true incremental effect of a campaign against a control group

Cross-media reach & frequency

Incremental reach

Identify the audience a channel (e.g. CTV) uniquely reaches beyond another channel (e.g. Linear TV)

Why media measurement matters

Measurement is where campaign spend gets justified or cut. Marketers who cannot prove which channel, partner, or audience segment actually drove a result tend to either overspend on channels that get credit by default or underinvest in ones that quietly deliver incremental value. Attribution, incrementality testing, and cross-media reach and frequency exist to answer that question directly, replacing assumption with evidence.

The stakes are higher again for pharma marketers, where regulatory constraints on patient and prescription data mean measurement approaches built for standard advertising can't simply be adapted after the fact. Script lift and audience quality are designed for that constraint from the outset.

Neutrality matters here, too: when the party running the measurement also has a stake in the campaign's outcome, marketers are trusting a self-interested scorer.

Frequently asked questions

What is media measurement in a data clean room?

It covers evaluating campaign performance, causal impact, and audience reach across channels using matched or combined data, without either party exposing raw exposure or conversion records to the other.

How does conversion lift testing work without exposing conversion data?

The clean room compares a test and control group's conversion outcomes inside the secure environment and returns only the aggregate lift result, not individual conversion records.

What is the difference between script lift and conversion lift?

Script lift is the pharma-specific version of conversion lift, measuring the effect of media exposure on prescription activity while meeting the additional data-handling requirements of regulated healthcare data.

What's the difference between using an ad platform’s first-party lift product and using Decentriq’s lift product?

Ad platforms often offer built-in lift capabilities that advertisers can use by passing their conversion events directly to the ad platform Conversion APIs. Decentriq’s approach differs by being fully transparent in terms of methodology and by not sharing your conversion events to the ad platform since the processing runs securely inside the clean room.
